Overview
The High School of Glasgow is a well-known private school with excellent facilities for pupils in the outskirts of Glasgow. The brief for Alpha was to create a flexible learning space for the students to use within the school.
The school wanted to prepare the students for university by almost mimicking the type of furniture the universities use in their study areas, breakout learning spaces and classrooms but in a smaller scaled down area to give the pupils a sense of how university feels and works.
The area was to be broken up into four sections – Thinking & Reflection, Collaborate & Create, Design & Innovation. The booths were a space of innovation for young minds to be bold and think outside the box. The sofas were a place of collaboration, a space for pupils to work together. Finally, the high tables were a space for students to change their ideas into blue prints and take design into a product.
Alpha utilised a combination or booths, pouffes, relaxed sofas, poseur height tables and stools, media charts and perch stools from Steelcase, Viccarbe and Orangebox.
