SSE Café Space

SSE aimed to fully refresh their existing café space, transforming it from a traditional canteen-style layout into a modern, multifunctional café environment.

The previous setup, made up of standard round tables, café chairs, and bench seating, was reimagined as a contemporary coffee-bar-style space featuring:

• Banquette seating with integrated planters
• Soft furnishings for relaxation
• Informal collaborative areas
• Floor-standing and suspended greenery to support wellbeing
• Open storage elements to define zones and encourage flexible use

The goal was to create a welcoming, flexible space that supports both downtime and informal collaboration - giving employees more choice and control over where and how they work.

The design intent was also to ensure the café could be used beyond traditional mealtimes, allowing SSE to maximise valuable real estate within their headquarters and leverage this beautiful, inviting space to attract and engage employees throughout the day.
