Alpha worked closely with Marini O’Shea Architects and the ICO client team to provide a furniture solution that resulted in a future-proofed workplace that provides a series of versatile, calm and refined spaces. The project presented the opportunity to marry the client’s strategic aspirations with a new refined aesthetic. Undertaken in short programme and on modest budget; this project required a careful analysis of the existing premises and a light-touch with a focus on the frugal use of natural materials and the use of creative and cost effective furniture pieces
The furniture scope included areas with a concentration of touchdown, auxiliary spaces located centrally, main office areas, reception area and a series of quiet and private spaces being located to the extremities of the space adjacent to windows, view and positioned away from the office entrance.
The tea prep area is located in the heart of the space, providing a hub for the collaborative breakout space. The modest space previously occupied by the kitchen was then reconfigured to become a dedicated quiet room which was key requirement in the brief.
The flexibility of the workspace was explored through permutations of furniture arrangements for activities such as: workshops, seminars, presentations & staff parties. The lack of solid partitioning sub-dividing the space means that the various environments are created through lighting and furniture placement, both of which can be easily modified by the client. Combined, these aspects of the project have resulted in a future-proofed workplace that provides a series of versatile, calm and refined spaces
