To mark the launch of the new Alpha Scotland office in Glasgow we launched a competition for a self-employed homeworker to win a fortnight’s residency in our new Finnieston home.

Scottish writer and broadcaster, Paul English, was the winner. He wrote the following about his experience:

“The facilities at Alpha were great, the office modern and comfortable, and the staff super-friendly. After my first 18 months working as a freelance journalist, it was nice to come home from a day’s work not smelling of toasties from the various ‘coffices’ I’ve taken to writing stories in. The quiet calm and the abundance of natural light made for a productive and creative working environment.

The entrancing view from the Clyde to the Campsie hills on the sixth floor is unlike any coffee shop. The Gilbert Scott Building of my alma mater (Glasgow University) looming on the horizon served as a constant source of inspiration to get the work done. If it wasn’t for that, I’d have spent all my time daydreaming over the Glasgow skyline.”

We’re delighted that Paul enjoyed the benefits of our new space which is designed to show how the workplace can facilitate effective working.
